NetApp has acquired mobile application developer ionGrid for an undisclosed amount as part of a strategy to acquire new technologies.
Tom Georgens, NetApp chairman and CEO, said the company pursues smaller acquisitions to acquire the technology and leaves larger buys for opportunistic ventures, CRN reports.
Joseph Kovar writes Stratos, ionGrid’s flagship application, is intended for users to revise proposals, annotate mockups or comment on changes to presentations on iPhones or iPads.
IonGrid aims to give users annotation tools that do not require moving data to a storage cloud, according to CRN.
Nick Triantos, ionGrid co-founder and CEO, wrote in a blog post that customers want to authenticate users without replicating cloud logins and flexible policy controls, CRN reports.
