QinetiQ Unveiling Mobile Device, Mission Mgmt System; JD Crouch Comments

QinetiQlogoTNNIQinetiQ North America has developed a new system aimed at helping warfighters manage mission systems by using a single device such as a smartphone or tablet.

The Integrated Warrior System is designed to fit on legacy vests and helmets and create a personal network area for users, the company said Thursday.

“Modernization initiatives have sought to integrate electronics and sensors on the warfighter ensemble without adding extra equipment and weight,” said J.D. Crouch, president of the company’s technology solutions group.

Crouch said the company build the IWS to integrate both commercial and military devices into an open architecture.

QinetiQ said the IWS can hold smartphones, computers, software applications and gunfire detection systems.

The company presented the system Jan. 30 at the Soldier Tech Expo Booth in Washington.
