Report: Denis Ranque Nominated EADS Chair

EADSlogoDenis Ranque, former chief executive of Thales Group, has been nominated to chair the EADS board of directors as the company is implementing a new ownership structure, Reuters reports.

If approved, Ranque will succeed Arnaud Lagardere, head of a French media group that is planning to sell its stake in the aerospace and defense conglomerate.

A new EADS board will discuss the appointment after a March 27 meeting on a planned share buyback, according to Reuters.

The French government was supporting Anne Lauvergeon, former head of reactor maker Areva, as chairman but EADS instead wanted to pick one of the board’s independent majority, the report said.
