Symantec and Giesecke & Devrient have agreed to develop protected security applications for smartphones and tablets in a move aimed at helping application developers deliver products and services that meet security requirements.
Under the partnership, Symantec will use G&D’s Trusted Service Manager to update the company’s mobile apps and protect the apps’ cryptographic keys and credentials, Symantec said Thursday.
Symantec said the companies will combine Symantec’s Trusted Execution Environment and G&D’s Trusted Service Manager to protect cryptographic keys on mobile devices.
The companies will demonstrate their platform at the World Mobile Congress and expect it to hit the market in the second half of 2013.
