TCSlogoTeleCommunication Systems Inc. has partnered with South Africa-based Cellfind to provide a hosted, end-to-end location-based service for wireless operators in Africa.

The partnership agreement, TCS’ first in the region, is aimed at helping Cellfind deliver work with location-based services businesses start and grow, TCS said Thursday.

Cellfind“™s location-based services applications are tested and integrated into TSC’ hosted platform and are intended to help wireless carriers offer LBS technology for their networks said Jacques Swanepoel, managing director of Cellfind.

The collaboration includes consultation services and assistance in system integration and aims to provide customers applications for tracking goods and emergency locations.

Jay Whitehurst, TCS senior vice president for the commercial software group, said the companies share a common goal of helping commercialize location-based services in Africa and other international markets.
