Accenture is opening a new office in Texas to develop software and deliver support, consultancy and technology services for state health and human service agencies nationwide.
The center will have 300 job openings in software engineering and related services for the company’s public service and public health platforms, benefits management system, citizen self-service portal and other software products, Accenture said Wednesday.
Nonprofit partner KIPP Austin will help mentor, create workshops and offer internships for high school students through the center as part of the company“™s Skills to Succeed initiative.
“We are focused on helping public agencies seize transformative opportunities to improve citizen services while adapting to budget realities,“ said Stephen J. Rohleder, health and public service operating group chief executive at Accenture.
“We have worked with the state of Texas for over 30 years and Austin is key to our efforts to leverage technology and software to meet government needs,” he added.
“Austin is a growing hub for innovation and we are glad they have chosen to expand and create new jobs here,” said Mayor Lee Leffingwell.
Accenture employs more than 5,000 workers in the state with offices in Austin, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio.
