CiscoLogoCisco will provide its audio and video conferencing technology to Barcelona City Hall in Spain in a moved aimed at connecting citizens to public services via a remote connection.

The pilot project will use Cisco TelePresence and collaboration technologies with the goal of helping citizens carry out administrative processes without visiting public offices in person, Cisco said Thursday.

Under the program’s first phase, the company will help implement a services booth for citizens to share, sign and print documents.

Once inside the booth, Cisco says citizens connect with local agents by pressing a button to share documents and complete processing.

Cisco will provide City Hall its Remote Expert Manager and Cisco Unified Communications Manager administration software.

City Hall is also acquiring a touch screen and virtual keyboard; a high-definition camera and scanner; a printer; and a desktop Cisco TelePresence system using Cisco medianet technology for video communication.
