Elbit Systems of America and New Hampshire-based illumination technology maker Laser Light Engines are partnering to develop a laser that can be used for display applications.

The LLE DSG-265 intends to function a plug-and-play laser that helps to upgrade existing installations and replace gas discharge lamps that traditionally power digital projectors, the companies said Tuesday.

“With over 32 years of experience in manufacturing innovative lasers for defense and commercial customers, we stand ready to support LLE’s manufacturing, technical, and logistic needs,” said Raanan Horowitz, president and CEO of Elbit Systems of America.

Bill Beck, executive vice president of business development and founder of LLE, said the companies are aiming to answer demand for laser illumination systems in two- and three-dimensional digital cinema, digital signage and other laser illumination projects.
