HP Enterprise Services has developed a mobile application for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to display information on housing discrimination and regional contact information.
The Housing Discrimination Complaint Application also contains features for submitting complaints to HUD and aims to serve as a channel between citizens and HUD’s office of fair housing and equal opportunity, HP said Thursday.
The new app is available in Apple’s App Store and accessible on the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
“We are pleased to work with HP to create the first federal civil rights complaint mobile application,” said John Trasvina, assistant secretary for HUD’s fair housing office.
HUD plans to release an Android-compatible version as part of efforts to fulfill digital strategy requirements set by the Office of Management and Budget for mobile technologies.
Trasvina said the department is aiming to help citizens understand fair housing laws and help HUD’s partners know rights and responsibilities under the Fair Housing Act.
