IBMlogoIBM will base all of its cloud computing services and software in an open cloud architecture as the company is aiming to help customers use interconnected data for mobile computing and business analytics.

The company also released a new OpenStack-based private cloud software program intended to help manage enterprise-grade cloud environments and port services in hybrid clouds, IBM said Monday.

SmartCloud Orchestrator intends to help users build new cloud services and automate both application deployment and lifecycle management in the cloud.

Robert LeBlanc, senior vice president of software, said open source and standards are intended to help spur innovation and help end customers use multiple vendors to choose cloud platforms.

IBM has also created a 400-member cloud standards customer council, sponsored the OpenStack Foundation, and dedicated 500 open cloud project developers as part of its open source cloud initiative.
