James Brayshaw, a former Ordnance Survey board member, has joined Pitney Bowes Software as a director and general manager of location intelligence and geographic information systems.
The 30-year enterprise software and data veteran will lead the division in Europe, the Middle East and Africa as the company is seeing increased demand from businesses for real-time location data and tools for a mobile workforce, Pitney Bowes said Wednesday.
Businesses are also seeking to acquire location intelligence based in cloud computing environments.
“We live in a “˜big data' age and there are huge opportunities for those enterprises that take advantage of these powerful new insights that location provides,” Brayshaw said.
Gary Roberts, Pitney Bowes Software EVP for the EMEA region, said the company appointed Brayshaw as the company continues to invest in the Mapinfo brand.
In his new role, Brayshaw will be responsible for leading the company’s MapInfo enterprise GIS software portfolio and aim to grow adoption of the company’s location intelligence products and services.
