Kathy Medalle, a program manager at Northrop Grumman, has won a 2013 Young Alumna of the Year award from Marquette University’s college of engineering.
The award recognizes community service, professional achievements and service to the university, Northrop said Monday.
Medalle works in the land and self protection systems division, overseeing directional infrared countermeasure programs aimed to protect aircraft from guided missiles.
She volunteers at the Kirk School in Palatine, Ill., which provides education to students with cognitive, orthopedic, communication, sensory or behavioral impairments.
The 1999 Marquette graduate also participates in mentoring programs that promote scareers in math, science, technology and engineering.
