The American University of Afghanistan’s International Campus in Kabul has renamed its soccer field DynCorp International Field.

The field hosted the country’s first intercollegiate soccer tournament involving six teams from universities based in the Kabul area, DynCorp said Monday.

Afghanistan’s national soccer team has also used the field.

“DynCorp International is proud to support global education and community development opportunities as part of serving for a better tomorrow,” said Steve Gaffney, DynCorp chairman and CEO.

More than 1,500 full- and part-time students are enrolled at the university and 12 percent of the 2012 graduating class received Fulbright scholarships.

“With so many of our team members working in support of programs to improve communities all over the world, we are honored to have the opportunity to support the American University of Afghanistan,” Gaffney added.
