CAE Updates Navy's Sierra Flight Trainer; John Lenyo Comments

CAELogoCAE USA's upgraded operational flight trainer for the MH-60S helicopter has been declared ready for use by the U.S. Navy.

Technology updates to the Sierra trainer aimed to make it compatible with other MH-60S helicopters and training devices, CAE said Wednesday.

CAE added motion seats, a Barco CD2260 visual display system and a refurbished image generator visual system to the fixed-based OFT.

The company also updated the OFT’s software and hardware.

“We were able to complete this major technology refresh on the original MH-60S operational flight trainer on schedule,“ said John Lenyo, CAE USA president and general manager.

CAE USA is the prime contractor for the Navy’s MH-60S training program, has designed and produced seven other MH-60S OFTs and has built five weapons tactics trainers for the Navy since June 2004.
