Hughes-logoHughes Network Systems LLC has begun to ship its 9502 BGAN M2M terminal with integrated antenna after receiving Inmarsat type approval for the machine-to-machine satellite solution.

The IP satellite terminal has an IP-66 rating for all-weather pole mounting, according to a Hughes statement.

Ronald Spithout, president of enterprise at Inmarsat, said the Hughes 9502 BGAN M2M terminal expands Inmarsat’s M2M services portfolio, which enables energy and environmental monitoring, banking, utilities and other applications.

Mobile satellite communications provider Inmarsat initially contracted Hughes to build the terminal for its broadband global area network service.

“Hughes continues to demonstrate our dedication to the M2M market by expanding its BGAN M2M terminal portfolio with a fully integrated terminal, achieving the same remarkable low power consumption our 9502 customers enjoy today,” said Graham Avis, vice president and general manager at Hughes San Diego.
