IBM logoIBM has won a national award for its apprenticeship program involving students from Highbury College in Portsmouth, U.K..

The company took the Best Apprenticeship Scheme award during the TARGETjobs National Graduate Recruitment Awards ceremony held in London, aboutmyarea.co.uk reported Friday.

Nineteen other companies such as Ernst & Young, Siemens, Aviva and Rolls Royce were also up for the award.

“As apprenticeship scheme partners we want to congratulate IBM on winning this award and look forward to continuing to work closely with them on this excellent programme,” said Dee John, executive director of Highbury’s corporate college.

Highbury College funds and evaluates the quality of IBM’s training program for 90 apprentices.

TARGETjobs awards were voted on by students and recognize the top companies to work for graduates, according to the report.
