In-Q-Tel is investing in a radiation detection technology producer to help that company commercialize its semiconductor detector technology for the intelligence community.
Redlen Technologies built its CZT semiconductor detector to convert radiation to electrical signals for machine users to detect radioactive isotopes by viewing images, Redlen said Thursday.
CZT radiation detectors are designed to operate at room temperature and use solid-state semiconductor materials.
Syd Ulvick, senior vice president of IQT“™s physical and biological technologies practice, said IQT is aiming to help Redlen develop and commercialize the CZT machines for defense and security customers.
“The product operating environments for IQT“™s intelligence community customer base are extremely demanding,” said Glenn Bindley, Redlen president and CEO.
