Mark Logic logoMarkLogic Corp. has received up to $25 million from a recently completed growth capital round with Northgate Capital, Sequoia Capital and Tenaya Capital as facilitators.

The funds will help MarkLogic boost the go-to-market offering of its enterprise NoSQL database platform to fulfill the demands of Fortune 500 companies and government customers, the company said Wednesday.

MarkLogic CEO Gary Bloom, who also invested in the funding round, noted that enterprises have discovered that the databases they are using “are not flexible“ to handle diverse data formats needed by modern applications.

Gary_Bloom“They also recognize that they cannot lower their standards for enterprise capabilities like transactional consistency, security, backup, recovery, high availability and alerting,” said Bloom.

With Hadoop distributed file system support, the MarkLogic server enables enterprises to provide access to structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data through information applications and analytics tools.

MarkLogic finds applications in financial services, healthcare, media, publishing, aviation, government and education.
