Nigel Smith, a 25-year financial services industry veteran, has joined Grant Thornton LLP as leader of the firm’s financial advisory services business lines.

Smith previously led Accenture‘s North American financial services management consulting practice and oversaw its North America-based financial services innovation center, Grant Thornton said Tuesday.

He will be responsible for growing the firm’s business across its advisory service lines in the financial services sector.

“Nigel, combined with our growing team of financial services professionals, will play a key role in expanding the solutions and capabilities we offer our clients,” said Steve Lukens, Grant Thornton national managing principal for advisory services.

Smith started his Accenture career while the company was known as Andersen Consulting, first working in the management consulting area and then leading a bank transformation program.

Grant Thornton says Smith has helped banking and insurance clients manage their organizations and talent, develop business strategies, manage performance and customer resource management platforms.
