Rockwell Collins' Flight2 avionics system will be installed on Oman's C-130 aircraft through prime contractor ST Aerospace as Oman aims to bring its air force up-to-date with global airspace requirements standards.
Oman will receive a new flight management system, flight displays, autopilot, navigation sensors, communication radios and a weather radar system, Rockwell Collins said Thursday.
ST Aerospace will install and integrate the systems on three C-130 airlifters starting in 2013.
Troy Brunk, Rockwell Collins vice president and general manager of airborne solutions, said the company intends to help pilots in Oman gain new situational awareness and communications capabilities.
Each refurbished airlifter will also have a new a digital map and systems built to help pilots avoid collisions and see terrains.
“Through our work with ST Aerospace and the Royal Air Force of Oman, we look forward to continuing our long legacy of helping C-130 pilots achieve their missions with these important upgrades,“ Brunk said.
