
Salient Federal Solutions has won a one-year prime contract from the U.S. Office of Personnel Management to update database systems the agency uses to conduct background investigations on government employees and contractors.
The company will help design, tune and maintain the database for OPM’s federal investigative services office, which is responsible for the personnel security clearance background investigations, Salient said Wednesday.
Under the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act, OPM is required to complete 90 percent of background investigations within 40 days.
Bill Parker, Salient chief operating officer, said the company aims to plan for future expansion requirements and implement security measures to protect databases used to process clearances.Salient won the award through a blanket purchase agreement.
