SIEMENS logo_ExecutiveBizSiemens AG has received approval from the Mississippi Development Authority for a $90 million contract to revamp the water supply infrastructure in Jackson, the Clarion Ledger reported Monday.

The MDA approved the contract Monday and work will start when Jackson secures the bonds to fund the project, according to the report.

Brian Eason writes Siemens will update two water plants and approximately two miles of sewer lines, as well as install new meters.

Jackson’s government awarded the energy performance contract and aims to save enough money on electricity and labor over more than 15 years to pay for the project, Eason reports.
