VMware is opening a new public sector office in Reston, Va. this week to accommodate more employees and provide a briefing center for current and potential clients.
The 51,000-square-foot office space on Sunset Hills Road will have space for 210 employees and act as a function center for the company's customers and partners, the Washington Post reported Sunday.
Aileen Black, vice president for the public sector at VMware, told reporter Marjorie Censer the company has 135 employees in its public sector unit, based at another 6,000-square-foot space in Reston.
Black also told the Post the company wants to host agency officials as government travel budgets become more constrained.
VMware’s public sector unit's revenue has grown from $8 million in 2004 to more than $500 million now, Black told the Post.
