Accenture has deployed a cloud-based patient and diagnostic information database for clinicians at five hospitals and 23 facilities to enter, access and share electronic medical records with each other.
The U.K. National Health Service’s new radiology information system uses Accenture’s clinical services framework for the healthcare facilities in southwest England, Accenture said Wednesday.
NHS intends to have new RIS and picture archiving and communications systems within five years and Accenture set up the new infrastructure in 10 weeks, the company said.
Types of records in the new system include medical imaging files, radiology reports and other diagnostic data, appointments and administrative functions.
“The growing demand for imaging means that radiologists are confronted with increasing workloads and the challenge of processing larger amounts of data,“ said Matt Oakley, senior executive for Accenture“™s medical imaging practice in the U.K. and Ireland.
RIS developer Healthcare Software Systems worked with Accenture to deploy the new system.
