Upgrades to the SonicWALL Network Security Appliance Series include a 10 gigabit Ethernet connection for midsize businesses, Dell said Tuesday.
The line utilizes hardware architecture ranging from 6 to 24 cores and a deep packet inspection technology to monitor network traffic.
SonicWALL upgrades are also intended for users to identify and block threats before they reach the system without bottlenecks, Dell said.
Patrick Sweeney, Dell’s executive director for product management, said the new series uses the same architecture found in the company’s SuperMassive firewall line that was initially designed for larger carriers and enterprises.
Dell intends for NSA appliances to help information technology personnel manage security and performance of networks.
