Dell Inc. and OnApp Ltd have collaborated to engineer three pre-tested cloud offerings designed to help public and private service providers deploy virtual infrastructure to the market.
The packages include OnApp’s cloud platform with support services and Dell’s racks, servers, networking, power and cables with ProSupport for all hardware intended to support hosting companies, managed service providers and telcos, OnApp said Thursday.
Kosten Metreweli, OnApp’s chief commercial officer, said the cloud packages are intended to help service providers bring cloud solutions to enterprises in a quick and cost-efficient way while avoiding hardware configuration problems.
The cloud services are available in three options based on OnApp’s storage and cloud with distributed storage area network, as well as Dell’s EqualLogic iSCSI storage or Compellent Fibre Channel storage.
Peter Duggal, managing director for UK cloud provider nativespace, said pre-tested hardware enable fast and stable delivery of cloud services with full support to ensure service level agreement with customers.
The packages are meant to be a kind of cloud business in a box, so service providers don’t have to build cloud infrastructure from scratch.
“At Dell we’ve always believed in the power of technology to help organisations of every size, location & industry do more,” says Paul Brook, program manager at Dell.
“To accomplish this, over the last three years we’ve undergone a company-wide transformation. In the process, we’ve accelerated the transition from being a vendor that delivers efficient & inexpensive ‘boxes’ to a partner that provides solutions addressing the end-to-end needs and shifting priorities of our customers,” he added.
