DRS Terminal Certified to Access Pentagon Wideband Satellites

DRS logoDRS Technologies has received a certificate from the Defense Department that allows users of the company’s mobile on-the-move terminal to operate and access the agency’s communication satellites in the Global Information Grid.

The company received its X-Band On-the-Move certification from the Army Strategic Command and Department of Defense’ Joint SATCOM Engineering Center, DRS said Wednesday.

With the certification, DRS’ X46-V terminal will access the Pentagon’s Wideband Global SATCOM network for direct voice, data and video communications.

Users connect to the wideband network to collect, process, store, transmit and manage information.

DRS says its terminal operates on Ku and Ka bands, intending for users to access both commercial and military satellite constellations.
