Exelis Wins Special Operations Image Intensifiers Contract; Nick Bobay Comments

Exelis LogoITT Exelis has won a contract to provide image intensifiers to U.S. Special Operations Command for ground and aerial night vision devices.

Exelis will supply the command up to 4,500 Generation 3 image intensifier tubes that are designed to help warfighters identify targets in low light conditions, the company said Tuesday.

The Naval Surface Warfare Center ““ Crane awarded the contract to the company.

Nick Bobay, president and general manager of night vision and tactical communications systems, said the night vision technology is intended for U.S. and allied operators to perform night missions.

Generation 3 tubes are intended to help detect threats in low-light environments and address halo issues, the company says.
