A Huntington Ingalls Industries division has won gold awards from the Hampton Roads Sanitation District for meeting environmental permit requirements.
Newport News Shipbuilding complied with HRSD“™s industrial wastewater discharge limits and technical and administrative mandates for 2012, Huntington Ingalls said Tuesday.
The division has consistently won awards from the district each year since 1994, when HRSD started the program.
“These awards acknowledge the coordinated efforts of thousands of shipbuilders who work in our shops and on our ships,“ said Dru Branche, NNS director of environmental, health and safety.
Gold awards recognize local companies for reaching perfect permit compliance in 2012.
