Lockheed Martin and MBDA have signed a memorandum of understanding to combine their respective vertical launch and naval weapons systems in a bid to explore new market opportunities worldwide.
MBDA will initially integrate its Sea Ceptor air defense and anti-ship missiles into Lockheed's MK 41 vertical launch and extensible launching systems, MBDA said Wednesday.
The companies plan to test launch a CAMM missile from Lockheed’s MK 41 VLS later in 2013.
BAE Systems and EADS each hold 37.5 percent stakes in MBDA and Finmeccanica holds the remaining 25 percent.
MBDA operates in five European countries and in the U.S. through its operations arm MBDA Inc.
