LockheedLogoLockheed Martin is partnering with Open Photonics to develop technology the companies intend to use for electro-optic products such as missile seekers and targeting sensors, Laser Focus World reports.

Gail Overton writes Orlando, Fla.-headquartered Open Photonics aims to bring emerging photonics and optical sensing technology to customers in the defense, biomedical, consumer and industrial markets.

VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland is also working with the company’s Photonic Horizons program, intended to bring more developers into the beginning of the product development phase.

Jason Eichenholz, Open Photonics CEO, told the website the company works with companies to develop a framework for researchers at small companies and universities to participate in technology projects.
