Teradata Unveils New Big Data Memory Tech; Scott Gnau Comments

teradata logoTeradata has launched a new database platform intended to help enterprises deploy big data with in-memory technology as they aim to know more about their customers and business.

The Teradata Intelligent Memory system aims to identify, track and rank data automatically and help migrate data continuously to storage drives, the company said Tuesday.

Enterprises can also access data in Apache Hadoop through Teradata SQL-H and move to Intelligent Memory based on temperature of the data, according to the company.

“Teradata Intelligent Memory technology is built into the data warehouse and customers don’t have to buy a separate appliance,” said Scott Gnau, Teradata Labs president.

The company designed the system to place frequently used data into memory, then update it and synchronize the data based on use.
