Battelle has received an award from the Defense Security Service for the organization’s work in industrial security.
The Aberdeen, Md.-based Battelle Eastern Science and Technology Center received James S. Cogswell Award at a National Classification Management Society seminar in Illinois, Batelle said Wednesday.
“The Cogswell Award is a significant achievement,” said Steve Kelly, president of national security division at Batelle.
Battelle holds eight Cogswell Awards total and this is the center’s second award since the Defense Department agency started giving the distinction in 1966.
Twenty-four out of 13,000 eligible defense contractor facilities in the U.S. receive the award each year, Battelle says.
