CenturyLink Acquires AppFog for Cloud Portfolio; Jeff Von Deylen Comments

CenturyLinkLogoCenturyLink Inc. has acquired platform-as-a-service provider AppFog Inc. for an undisclosed amount as part of corporate efforts by the Monroe, LA.-based company to improve cloud offerings.

AppFog adds its public cloud PaaS capabilities to CenturyLink's Savvis cloud suite and expands its scope to include Savvis’ direct online channel, CenturyLink said Friday.

The Portland, Ore.-based company provides software developers with cloud services that CenturyLink’s Savvis organization president Jeff Von Deylen hopes to unify with Savvis' offerings in a move to help developers operate their applications in a secure environment.

AppFog also provides programming languages as well as public and private cloud interoperability.

More than 100,000 developers use AppFog's PaaS offerings, CenturyLink said.
