Deloitte Consulting LLP says in a report that augmented reality technology exists and the goal should make it available for government use in “extreme conditions,” Fedscoop reported Monday.
Colby Hochmuth writes that Mark White, Deloitte chief technology officer for the global consulting technology practice, said increasing numbers of mobile devices and wireless networks can help accelerate the adoption of augmented reality technology.
White said a Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency program that aims to develop AR contact lenses for battlefield use will be available within three years, according to the report.
He added that big data will play a role in the use of AR technology for government services, according to Fedscoop’s report.
White also said budget cuts could set back deployments but pilots can help show the value of the technologies, Hochmuth reports.
