General Dynamics C4 Systems has awarded Parvus Corp. a $4.8 million follow-on contract to upgrade a tactical communications system for the U.S. Army.
The orders are scheduled for delivery within five months and come under the General Dynamics-built Warfighter Information Network-Tactical program, Parvus said Thursday.
Parvus intends to provide new ruggedized switches designed to monitor and control Ethernet subsystems of the WIN-T structure, which the company has supported since 2009.
Dusty Kramer, Parvus president, said WIN-T Increment 2 was made to offer commercial-off-the-shelf technology that works to help soldiers exchange data while on the field.
This type of Ethernet switch was manufactured to withstand extreme weather conditions and movement for consistent Internet Protocol-based computing and local area network capabilities.
The military has been using WIN-T Increment 2 since last year.
