HP to Create Virtual Cloud-Based Network for Catalonia Federal Systems

HPLogoHP Enterprise Services has agreed to establish a cloud infrastructure for federal systems in Spain under a $67 million 10-year contract with the Catalonia local government.

The project is intended to allow all federal departments of the autonomous community to share information through a managed network and speed up computing processes for delivery of various services, HP said Tuesday.

HP Enterprises Services Spain will work to create a portal that is accessible to public offices and agencies, and maintain other facilities for information technology platforms and outsourcing applications.

HP also plans to provide the government of Catalonia the Enterprise Cloud Services – Virtual Private Cloud solution to enable the integration of old and new IT systems.

The project is part of HP’s cloud network expansion in Europe and comes as the company prepares to host an IT event in Barcelona in late 2013.
