Barb Niland, chief financial officer and corporate vice president of business management at Huntington Ingalls Industries, has won the Virginia Business Magazine’s Top CFO award in the publicly traded companies category.
Mike Petters, Huntington Ingalls’ president and CEO, said Niland helped build the corporate finance team at the company.
“She had to hire a lot of new people or bring people along and put them in jobs they had not ever been in before. They haven’t missed a beat, and that’s a tribute to her competence and her skill as a leader,” he added.
Niland started her career at Westinghouse, which later became Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems, in 1979 before holding the same roles at Northrop Grumman Newport News and Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding.
