BAE Systems Chairman Sir Roger Carr intends to focus on building up BAE as an independent company when he joins, Dow Jones Business News reported Wednesday.
Marietta Cauchi writes Carr announced his plans for the company a few hours after he was officially appointed to succeed Dick Olver, who will step down in the first quarter of 2014.
“BAE doesn’t need to do a deal to go forward and my first port of call is to build on it as a standalone independent company and focus all my energy on that,” Carr said Wednesday, according to Dow Jones.
“The challenges of the defense market are there to be managed, BAE can create new products and has a small but solid cyber business where there is room for growth,” he added.
