Lockheed PAC-3 MSE Missiles Take Out Two Targets in Test; Richard McDaniel Comments

LockheedLogoTwo Lockheed Martin missiles intercepted and destroyed two different targets during a test flight held Thursday at White Sands Missile Range, N.M.

One PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement weapon took down a tactical ballistic missile and the other attacked a cruise missile, Lockheed said Thursday.

“Today's test provides the final flight test data required to demonstrate the design maturity of the PAC-3 MSE configuration and its readiness to enter into production,” said Richard McDaniel, Lockheed vice president of PAC-3 missile programs.

“We demonstrated for the first time a multi-target engagement with MSE interceptors,” he added.

The company said a third missile self-destructed during the test.

Lockheed intends for the Patriot air and defense missile system to handle 16 PAC-3 missiles or 12 MSE missiles.
