Raytheon has received commendation from the Office of the Secretary of Defense for its work to complete a project aimed at updating gallium nitride-based radio frequency technology for a government initiative.
The OSD has given the latest GaN development the highest manufacturing readiness level possible in the defense industry for this type of technology, Raytheon said Thursday.
MRL levels are intended to help the OSD and businesses assess maturity of manufacturing readiness.
Both Raytheon and the government invested in the Defense Production Act Title III Gallium Nitride program, which aims to utilize the technology in monolithic microwave integrated circuits to support and extend lifespan of aircraft antennas.
