Rockwell Collins provided avionics software to Airbus for the first flight of that company’s A350 XWB jet Friday.
The A350 XWB flew from Toulouse, France and used Rockwell Collins’ airborne information management platform and voice and data communications system, Rockwell Collins said Friday.
“This platform is especially important to our company since we“™ve been given the opportunity to lead integration activities that introduce a new level of trust between Rockwell Collins and Airbus,” said Kent Statler, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Rockwell Collins’ commercial systems business.
Rockwell Collins also provided its multi-mode receiver and digital low range altimeter for landing and navigation to Airbus for the plane.
Airbus has selected Rockwell Collins’ Trimmable Horizantal Stabilizer Actuator, a flight control system intended for use during emergency situations such as load-path failures.
The A350 XWB used a similar avionics data network installed on the Airbus A380 and A400M.
