CA Technologies, ExaGrid Unify Disk Backup Hardware, Software; Chris Ross Comments

CA technologies logoCA Technologies and ExaGrid Systems have combined their disk-based tools designed for server backup and disaster recovery across virtual and physical environments, CRN reported Wednesday.

ExaGrid integrated its disk storage and data de-duplication appliance with CA Technologies’ ARCserve disk-to-disk backup and recovery software to offer clients a unified architecture, according to CRN.

“Customers’ data protection requirements are evolving very quickly, and they want to make sure they get the right mix of functionality—but also efficiency, speed and simplicity—at the right ownership costs,” said Chris Ross, vice president of worldwide sales for CA’ data management business.

The unified architecture also aims for mid-market and small organizations to address resource constraints during a backup in complex and heterogeneous environments, the report says.

Marc Crespi, ExaGrid vice president of product management, said the integration also works to help businesses recover information technology systems.
