EMC has announced new enhancements to a scale-out operating system that works to help enterprises store, synchronize and share files in the cloud, ZDNet reported May 7.
Nick Heath writes OneFS OS is designed for the company’s Isilon network-attached storage and Syncplicity file-sync-and-share appliances.
The latest software intends to support the Hadoop distributed file system and address security and audit standards, according to the article.
It will also feature a block-level deduplication function and an application programming interface for users to automate, orchestrate and manage object-oriented storage on Isilon, the report says.
Heath reports EMC will add a feature to Syncplicity aimed at helping customers store data in public and private cloud environments at the same time.
The company is slated to release the new version of OneFS later this year.
