A General Dynamics business unit has been selected the first industrial member of a university research center that aims to foster collaboration and information sharing between the public and private sectors.
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute started its data science research center in 2010 to address data-centric and data-intensive research challenges and seeks to add more corporate partners for the center’s industry affiliates program, RPI said Tuesday.
General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems will work with RPI researchers on projects involving forensics and cyber situational awareness.
“Today more than ever, it is essential that thought leaders from government, academia, and industry come together to pilot new approaches to the issues that affect both the private and public sector,“ said John Jolly, vice president and general manager of GDAIS’ cyber systems division.
Researchers at the center add semantics to data with the goal of applying the data to different types of machines and programs.
