Huntington Ingalls Industries division Ingalls Shipbuilding has volunteered to help the American Red Cross clean up and rejuvenate a local office in Jackson County, Miss.
Employees spent two weekends in June at the Red Cross Pascagoula office to perform ground maintenance and landscape work, HHI said Wednesday.
The Red Cross grounds refresh community project initiative included building a shaded sitting area for volunteers at the facility.
“Ingalls has been giving back to the community for 75 years, and this was an opportunity to continue that tradition and give back to an organization that is recognized for giving so much to people in need,” said Todd Thompson, risk manager at Ingalls Shipbuilding.
The community service program is part of the HHI division’s legacy builders mentoring program.
Ingalls employees have also volunteered to participate in other nonprofit work around Jackson County.
