Lockheed Martin BlueLockheed Martin will develop and test projectile weapons under a $34.2 million foreign military sales contract awarded by the U.S. Air Force, Avionics Intelligence reported Thursday.

Courtney Howard writes the company will also make software and assess the performance of joint air-to-surface standoff missiles for Finland’s fleet of F-18 fighter jets.

Work will take place under joint program that includes Lockheed, the Finnish air force, the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Navy, according to the report.

Howard reports this award continues of a six-year production contract Lockheed won in 2012.

The U.S. Air Force intends to acquire 4,900 JASSM systems for its future international aircraft integration efforts and Lockheed has manufactured more than 1,200 systems.
