Mark Ridley has joined NetApp as new regional director for Africa and will lead the company’s operations in Kenya, South Africa and Nigeria.
Ridley will also be responsible for implementing sales and marketing strategies, leading the channel ecosystem and growing NetApp’s presence in the region, NetApp said Friday.
He will report directly to Konstantin Ebert, who was appointed in May as director of the Middle East, Eastern Europe and Africa.
“Our approach in Africa is 100% indirect and we will rely heavily on our partners to execute,” Ridley said.
“This includes distribution and integration, but also high value opportunities such as consulting and professional services,” he added.
Ridley most recently served as a country manager in Africa for Dell and has also held management positions at Cisco, IBM, Panasonic and Microsoft.
Ebert said that Ridley is building a team for NetApp’s planned business expansion in Africa.
