Maximus has won a 13-month, $7 million contract to develop a curriculum and provide training to staff members responsible for operating the state of California’s health insurance exchange.
The company aims to help 850 California Health Benefit Exchange staff members process accounts under the Covered California insurance program, Maximus said Tuesday.
Bruce Caswell, Maximus health services president and general manager, said the company provides administrative assistance to other healthcare initiatives in California such as the Medi-Cal, Healthy Families and Pre-Existing Condition facilities.
Work will also include support for human resource development, project management and operational initiatives to facilitate exchanges between the government and consumers.
Maximus intends to utilize its health literacy center to offer technical advice and recommendations to staff on how to further develop the system’s organizational and communication feature.
