ComputerCodeOracle and microprocessor technology developer ARM have expanded their partnership with a multi-year agreement to further develop Java software for ARM’s 32-bit and 64-bit architectures.

The companies aim for their for unified technology to support data centers, network infrastructure and machine-to-machine systems, ARM said Monday.

Oracle’s Java virtual machine is designed to host applications for embedded and enterprise servers and help optimize multicore ARM processors.

ARM has chaired a nonprofit organization’s subcommittee that develops performance Java benchmarks for hardware and software technologies for the embedded market.

The company has also joined the Java community process executive committee, which aims to promote the use of Java technology in embedded systems.
